According to ClickZ, Social Media and Mobile Media are set to take off in a BIG way.

The study conducted by Deloitte said: 

17 percent planned to use social media sites to shop for gifts during the next several weeks

60 percent are planning to use the sites to hunt down discounts, coupons, and bargains

52 percent said they would use social media to check gift wish lists of friends and families

52  percent of those who said they will likely use social media for holidays purchasing were between 18 and 29 years of age

33 percent were between 30 and 44, while 12 percent were 45-to-60-year-olds

19 percent plan to use their mobile device for gift shopping

Those using handsets:

55 percent: search store locations

45 percent: research prices

4o percent: locate product information

32 percent: finding discounts and coupons

31 percent: perusing reviews

Twenty-five percent said that they will likely make a holiday purchase with their phone.
