Have you ever downloaded your LinkedIn data? If not, you should do this RIGHT NOW.
Have you ever downloaded your LinkedIn data? If not, you should do this RIGHT NOW.
Why you should export your LinkedIn data at least once a year (ideally every quarter):
- Backup: Exporting your LinkedIn data creates a backup of your connections, messages, and other important information.
This can be especially useful if you’re worried about losing access to your account, or if you want to have a copy of your data for your own records.
- Data portability: Exporting your LinkedIn data allows you to move your connections and other information to another platform or service. For example, you might want to import your LinkedIn connections into a customer relationship management (CRM) system or a personal networking tool.
- Personal organization: Exporting your LinkedIn data can help you organize your connections and other information in a way that’s more meaningful to you. For example, you might want to create lists or categories for your connections based on their industry, location, or other characteristics.
- Job search: Exporting your LinkedIn data can be helpful if you’re looking for a new job and want to use your connections to network and find opportunities. By exporting your data, you can easily keep track of who you’ve reached out to and any interactions you’ve had.
Here’s how to export your LinkedIn data
STEP 1: Click “Me”
STEP 2: Click “Settings and Privacy”
STEP 3: Click “Data Privacy”
STEP 4: Click “Get a copy of your archive”
LinkedIn will send you a notification via email when your download is ready.
Files will be provided to you in a CSV format.
Unfortunately you will not have access to export the emails of your connections, but exporting and saving your data is important, so be sure to put this action item in your schedule.
