New comment: I’ve recently been informed by two people that Facebook gave them a two-day “ban” for inviting too many people to “LIKE” their page.

I don’t have an answer to the exact number of acceptable invitations and believe that Facebook should proactively cap the number of invites as opposed to banning people after the fact.

If you have any comments on this new information, please share with us!

How do you get more people to LIKE your Facebook page?

I’m often asked “How do we get more people to LIKE our Facebook page?”

The simple answer is “Create engaging content that gets people to want to follow what you have to say.”

You want people to click “LIKE”, or comment on your status updates, because each time someone engages, the notice is sent to all their Facebook contacts.

Just like the 80’s Faberge Commercial: “And they told two friends…and so on…and so on” — Word-of-mouth builds organically.

This is a quick tutorial how you can invite friends to LIKE your Facebook page.

There are at least two ways to reach out and ask people to LIKE your page:

Step 1:  Click the link “Suggest to Friends” and a pop-up window (seen below) will prompt you to choose the friends you would like to invite to LIKE your business page.
(Note: If your friends already LIKE your page they will be greyed out).

Step 2: Upload an existing contact file (Excel, Outlook etc) or reach out to your web-based email contacts (Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo! etc).  Here’s how:

Click on “Edit Page” as seen above in Step 2.

Click on the “Marketing” tab in the left-hand column

Click on the “Tell Your Fans” link indicated by the arrow.

A pop-up window will appear and you can then import a CSV file from your computer or you can log on to your web-based email accounts.

For this exercise, I entered in my web-based email to see who is not connected to PUNCH!media.

If a friend is already using Facebook, they will receive the top message as a “Recommended Pages” prompt.

Or, if they do not already have a Facebook account, they will receive the bottom message inviting your friend to join Facebook and to check out your business page.

Also be sure to leverage all your other marketing material (your email signature, your business cards etc. to invite your contacts to “LIKE” your page on Facebook.

Have you seen any other unique ways to build more followers/likers?
