If your company is highly visual, and if your target audience is women, you really ought to take a look at using Pinterest as a part of your Social Media marketing toolkit (if you haven’t already)

As I mentioned in a brief tutorial in May 2012,  some of the effective ways you can use this very popular photosharing site is:

  1. Showcase your company culture
  2. Create bios for executive management team
  3. Infographics and data charts
  4. Photos of customers – (enjoying your products)!
  5. Create a contest (be sure look at terms & conditions)
  6. Create video gallery
  7. Showcase best practices
  8. Share inspirational quotes
  9. Share how-to’s
  10. Sell your stuff (adding the price of an item with the $ sign automatically shows up with a banner so people can purchase your items)

When I jumped on the Pinterest bandwagon, having a Company Page was not an option.

Some of the key differences, as outlined by SocialMediaExaminer.com

  • Terms of Agreement are different
  • Businesses can set up their account with their business name (instead of a personal name)
  • There are educational materials and case studies available so businesses can learn how to effectively market themselves on this site. (I.e. How to build a community and tell your story)

There are some really creative and unique ways you can use Pinterest. Here’s an example of one case studies (from Pinterest)

Allrecipes creates a seamless food sharing experience

Goals:

  • Grow the Allrecipes community
  • Make it easy to discover recipes and videos
  • Send high-quality traffic to Allrecipes.com

Results:

  • Within three months, more than 50,000 recipes were pinned resulting in 139 million Pinterest impressions, and clicks on Allrecipes’ Pinterest content increased more than 900%
  • they featured Pinterest in their marketing emails distributed to more than 6 million monthly subscribers
  • In less than a week after the release of the Scoop newsletter, the number of clicks to Allrecipes.com from Pinterest increased 4x, repins and likes of the featured images increased by more than 3x, and reach grew by 2x.

I recently created a new board, to add (and bookmark) various eMarketer statistics about the Social Media industry.

I noticed you can also add other people to help you add to your presence. So if you have other staff assisting you with your Social Media presence, be sure to enlist the assistance of others.

So, how are you using Pinterest to augment your Social Media presence? Comment in the field below to let me know what works for you – and/or add your Pinterest board for extra exposure!
