How To Convert Clients Using LinkedIn Long Form Blog Posts

Publishing blogs on LinkedIn is one of the BEST ways you can showcase your expertise and stay top-of-mind with your target audience.

Originally reserved for LinkedIn Influencers such as Arianna Huffington and Richard Branson, we ALL now have the power share our opinions and perspective.

I personally have seen success from writing and sharing content. Several clients admitted to hiring me after they read a specific post, and one of my posts received over 13,000 views!

Challenged with what to write?

ALWAYS be sure to write material about what’s of interest to your target audience. Get on their side of the table to see what they see or feel how they feel. How can you solve their problems? How can you ease their “pain”?

People don’t buy information, they buy implementation. Share information. tips and advice that empowers people with ideas they can do themselves. They will come to you for the “heavy lifting”. By acting as a collaborator with your prospective client, you build trust and trust leads to transactions.

Think Q & A. Every time someone asks you a question, that’s a blog post. If one person is challenged with a problem, chances are there are dozens of other people faced with the same issue and want help. Or, maybe they don’t even know they have a particular problem until you highlight that you’ve got the solution.

Get organized. When I used to work for WEDDINGBELLS and Fashion Magazine, our (amazingly talented) editors would always be working six months to a year in advance of the publishing date. They start with a content calendar (or editorial calendar) to highlights the themes, ideas or concepts they will be publishing for each issue.

By planning your content in advance, you won’t struggle to come up with new ideas. When you feel inspired to write, you can also create batches of content and simply publish them on different days.

Quality trumps quantity: Don’t just publish “noise”. Make sure each and every post is compelling and interesting.

One idea at a time: Focus on one thought or idea at a time. Staying focused on the key concept you’re delivering ensures the content stays on point (and frees up the next idea for the next post).

Remember: No one knows what YOU know from your perspective. Be the expert!

You may think it’s all been said before, but you have a perspective unlike anyone else’s. People buy from you because of your expertise. You’re actually doing a disservice to your clients if you’re NOT sharing and helping them!

If you’re still struggling with how you can use this amazingly powerful tool on LinkedIn to come up with new ideas, or how you can use it to convert clients, let me know and I can provide some insights (and a template for an editorial calendar). Be inspired. Be bold and, if you’re concerned about “haters” or doing the wrong thing, read my previous article “Got Haters? 5 Tips On How To Deal With A Negative Review”.

Then, get out of your own way and let yourself shine.

Ready? Set! Write!

Now it’s your turn: Have you gained new clients thanks to a LinkedIn long form post (aka LinkedIn blog post)? Have you read a post that compelled you to take action?
