On the heels of three major bridal magazines closing last year (Conde Nast’s Modern Bride and Elegant Bride, and InStyle Weddings), Get Married Media is the first wedding magazine to use Microsoft Tag. A free application that brides can download in their mobile phones uses Microsoft’s barcode technology (gettag.mobi) allows users to snap a picture of the barcode which will allow them additional content from editorial and ads to videos and photos and more. Brides can also save Tags to view at another time, do further research and buy products from their phones.

The Microsoft Tag Reader is compatible with many different mobile phones including Apple iPhone; Blackberry 81xx, 83xx and Bold; and Windows Mobile 5 and 6.

A target audience like brides will provide very interesting feedback. They are a group that is intensely focused on the “perfect day” which is driven by emotions, politics and budget (or budget constraints).

Each couple spends an average of two years planning their event. I hope we’ll have results sooner than later.
Stay tuned!
