So how is your Social Media campaign coming along? Inquiring minds wanna know!
Email me at leslie (at) punchmedia.ca to let me know what is working (or even let me know what didn’t work).
In the meantime, here are some GREAT examples of who is using Social Media right:
Business-to-Business (B2B)
American Express’ Open Forum: “A community designed to help you grow your business”
You must be an AMEX cardholder to be a member of this online community which provides tips and allows you to connect with other businesses (who are AMEX members).
Another example of businesses who use Social Media right: IBM.
- Sales reps blog
- They listen using keyword and searches that someone is in a buying mode:
- “I’m about to issue a RFP. Does anyone have a sample RFP that I can use?
- “I’m looking to replace my old server”
- “Does anyone have any recommendations on what kind of storage device will work in this in type of situation?”
- They tweet during events
Big brands such as AMEX and IBM are clearly going to have a higher level of engagement than small businesses, but here is an example of a smaller business I think is doing is right: Cinnamon Toast New Media
I like that this Ottawa-based business provides regular tips to keep their followers updated on trends in design, social media and other fun topics they want to share.
Business-to-Consumer (B2C)
Social Media is a lot friendlier in the business-to-consumer (B2C) world. There is a great opportunity to extend customer service, listen to your customers and ask for their feedback.
I absolutely LOVED how COLDFX utilized Twitter to reward someone who was endorsing their brand:
They simply searched for the keyword “COLDFX” and sent the person an online coupon.
Whitby-based Buster Rhino’s Southern BBQ has had great success using Social Media. The owner, Darryl Koster is very active online and attributes much of his success to Twitter, Facebook and other sites. Here’s an example of one of his posts:
Let us know what you are doing to get your followers to engage with you?
We’d love to showcase it on our blog and at our seminars (you’ll get some great “street cred” and increased exposure!)
