Featured Guest Post: Women In Biz Network, Leigh Mitchell
One of the things about Social Media that I love the most, is that it’s opened doors to meeting lots of wonderful new people.
People who collaborate and connect to share and support each other.
One of those people is Leigh Mitchell from Women In Biz Network.
Leigh has organized what promises to be a VERY exciting event on April 15, 2013
The WIBN Conference and Urban Retreat features speakers such as Danielle Laporte and Jessica Holmes, a ton of top notch coaches, speakers and panelist (many of whom are Social Media rock stars in their own right)
I’ve asked Leigh to answer some questions about her business and of her Social Media habits and successes and this is what she had to say:
1) How would you describe your business in 3 words?
Empowerment, Connection and Community
2) What are your most popular products/services?
Our WIBN membership and annual conference are very popular because they help professional women build their skills and invest in their professional development on a regular basis in a very cost effective way.
3) What is your favorite Social Media site (for your business)?
That’s a hard question – I love all of them for different reasons. I love twitter for ease of sharing and connecting with others quickly, I love LinkedIn for analytics (ie: checking who has looked at my profile is a guilty pleasure) and I like Pinterest for the eye candy. Pinterest is also great for search engine results and connecting with the women’s market as it is predominately women.
4) How much time do you dedicate to Social Media per day/per month?
I would say easily forty hours per month
5) Who do you think is doing a GREAT job in Social Media and why?
I would say Julia Rosien of Social North is doing a great job and so is Carla Young of Momeo Community. They are great social content providers of very useful information. I also happen to find your tip and content sharing to be very useful from a career perspective. Your linkedin tips are fantastic. Got me using Linkedin more for sure and changed how I use it. (ie: I stopped linking to my Twitter account).
6) What one piece of advice do you have for someone using Social Media?
I would say not to give up. It is very helpful. I get asked a lot how I find sponsors – interestly enough I often check who is following @womenbiznetwork on Twitter and that is the first place I start with sourcing sponsors. Easy to start tweeting with that sponsor and then DM for a follow up.
