Did you know that everything you do online leaves a digital breadcrumb trail (aka digital footprint).

You probably don’t even realize what or how much information is being recorded. This is why it’s always a good reminder never to post anything online that you wouldn’t want to see on a billboard.

It’s also important to back up your data, download information being captured on all the Social Media sites you use and LOG OUT of active sessions you may not even realize are still on.

Last week I went to https://www.linkedin.com/settings/sessions and I noticed that I had 11 sessions  that were still active:

LinkedInSessions

Thankfully, all the sessions were various locations I had logged onto from my cell phone or my laptop and weren’t sessions still open at one of the conference locations I had been at.

Are you still ACTIVELY logged in anywhere?

Take a moment now to log into https://www.linkedin.com/settings/sessions

(You may have to log in again with your email address and password)

You can see:

  • when you last signed in
  • the browser
  • the IP address
  • the city and province or state where you logged in

An example of the information recorded in a session looks like this:

ActiveSessionLinkedIn

How to sign out of a session:

  1. Click “Sign out” to the right of the session you’d like to end.
  2. Click Sign out to confirm.

To sign out of every active session (except the one you are currently logged into):

  1. Click “Sign out of all these sessions” as highlighted in blue at the top.
  2. Click Sign out to confirm.

Let me know in the comment area if this tip was useful. Were you logged in at various locations? Any surprises?
